On November 2, 2013, Professor Sang Yong Lee delivered a plenary lecture at the 24th International Symposium on Transport Phenomena (ISTP-24) that has been held during November 1 – 5, 2013 in Yamaguchi, Japan. The title of the lecture was “Drop Impinging Behavior on Structured Surfaces.” The transport phenomena include the flow of fluid, heat and mass transfer, multiphase flow, micro and nano problems, thermal management of the electric and electronic systems, energy conversion and saving technology, etc. This international conference provides a forum for researchers, scientists and engineers from all over the world to exchange and present new findings and to discuss the future directions on the areas of transport phenomena and is held every year by changing the conference location. This year, 152 papers were presented by about 220 participants from 20 countries. It should be noted that the 18th conference has been held at KAIST in 2007, and Professor Lee has served as the conference chair at that time.
